Requirements:
Part-time with flexible schedule.
Reliable transportation
Must be 25 years or older because of insurance requirements. Not our policy — it is the insurance requirements
Must have a clean driving record
Must have a current Arizona Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must be able to pass a consumer background check
Excellent typing skills — accuracy critical
Intermediate-advanced Word Skills
Must have access to a computer, printer, MS Word to submit reports
Educational Requirements:
• To tutor Kindergarten – 8th Grades: hold a bachelor’s degree OR Enrolled in a teacher preparation program AND in either case 12 credit hours in basic education content courses in any of the following areas: English, Social Studies, Math, Sciences
• To tutor reading in high school grades: hold a bachelor’s degree OR Enrolled in college or a university AND in either case 12 credit hours in English/ Language Arts/ Reading content in any of the following areas: Composition, English, Grammar, Linguistics, Literature, Reading (including Reading methods)
• To tutor math in high school grades: hold a bachelor’s degree OR enrolled in college or a university AND in either case 12 credit hours in Math content in any of the following areas: Calculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, Intro. to Number Theory and Modern Algebra, Formal Mathematical Reasoning and Writing, Topics in Geometry, Analysis of Ordinary Differential Equations, Intro. to Probability Theory, History of Mathematics, Synthesis of Mathematical Concepts, Quantitative Analysis (With the exception of Statistics, most of the courses will have a mathematical prefix.)
• To tutor Kindergarten – 8th grades: Highly Qualified instructional aide (Per Section 1119 of NCLB) employed by an elementary, middle, or junior high school
• To tutor high school grades: Highly Qualified instructional aide (Per Section 1119 of NCLB)
employed by a middle, junior high, or high school
Qualifications:
See above educational requirements
Prior experience tutoring
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Creative and able to change direction quickly
Positive attitude and professional appearance
Mature and able to understand professional boundaries
Ability to understand confidentiality policies
$16 – $18 per hour
This is NOT a position for someone who has to monitor social media and texts all day — at times you will be working in a fast-paced environment based on school year and contract needs. We have a lot of fun, but work hard.
